This Friday, as part of First Friday in Downtown Bryan, Donna Hajash, a Senior Lecturer in TAMU’s Department of Visualization, and her students will initiate Bryan’s first-ever Grafik Intervention. In an effort to spark urban revitalization locally, the TAMU chapter of GI will mask buildings downtown in visually compelling images and thought-provoking phrases.

The Communication Design students in Roselynn Newton’s Typographic Design course at Texas State University-San Marcos will host a Grafik Intervention on Mar. 22 from 8 to 10 p.m. on the corner of West Martin Luther King Drive and South Comanche Street in San Marcos.

► Texas State Intervention in Dunbar Historic District.

On March 8th, 2012, Communication Design students in Assistant Professor Roselyn Newton’s Typographic Design class hosted a Grafik Intervention in San Marcos, TX.

The students were tasked to find abandoned buildings in the city of San Marcos and transform them for one night into a visual commentary that engaged the community into a discussion regarding the state of the sites.

William Culpepper, a Ferris State University assistant professor of Graphic Design, will lecture at Mississippi State University as part of its School of Architecture Lecture Series, Wednesday, March 21 through Saturday, March 24.

“Alternative Practices” is the theme of the lecture series. Culpepper’s MSU lecture will focus on professionalism, creative work and his progress with Graphik Intervention, an urban revitalization project that utilizes graphic design. His lecture will be a crossover presentation for students in Architecture and Art.
